DPM Shrestha flies to Dhaka

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayankaji Shrestha today left for Dhaka, Bangladesh, to take part in an international conference on ‘People’s Empowerment and Development’.

Talking briefly to media persons at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Shrestha said that Nepal would raise the issues of democracy, development, peace and empowerment with due priority in the conference.

Shrestha said that he would hold separate meetings with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Dipu Moni and would discuss the regional issues and common concerns in the international affairs.

In the 65th General Assembly of the United Nations held last year, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Hasina had proposed to organize the international conference on ‘People’s Empowerment and Development’ in Dhaka.

Deputy Prime Minister Shreshta is scheduled to return home on Monday.

Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Durga Prasad Bhattarai and other top officials, and Bangladeshi Ambassador to Nepal Nimchandra Bhoumik bade farewell to Shrestha at the TIA. RSS
