DPL:Mahendranagar to play Kathmandu for final spot
DHANGADHI: Mahendranagar United will face Kathmandu Goldens for a spot in the final of the Ruslan Dhangadi Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament.
Mahendranagar booked a place in the second qualifier after defeating CYC Attariya by 15 runs in the match held today at the federal police office grounds.
Opting to field first, CYC Attariya invited Mahendranagar to bat. In response, Mahendranagar scored 130 runs in the stipulated 20 overs at the loss of 7 wickets. Arif Sheikh top-scored with 35 runs followed by Punit Mahara (26) and Karan KC (24 n.o.)
Kamal Singh Aiyer took two wickets for Attariya while Krishna Karki, Subhankar Urav, Binod Lama, Dipendra Singh Aiyer and Bipin Chandra took one each.
In reply, CYC Attarariya could muster only 115 runs in the full quota of their overs after losing four wickets. Subash Khakurel scored 30 runs followed by Bipin Chandra (28) and Gaurav Chitkar (14).
For Mahendranagar, Rabin Chettri took two wickets giving away 16 runs in four overs. It also won him the player-of-the-match award.
Mahendranagar will now face Kathmandu Goldens for the second spot in the final on Wednesday. Earlier today, Chauraha Dhangadi booked a place in the final by defeating Kathmandu Goldens in the first qualifier by one wicket.
