Dilip Butani appointed GOPIO Area Coordinator for Southern California
LOS ANGELES: Dilip Butani has been re-appointed as GOPIO’s area coordinator for Southern California. Butani will be supervising the six Southern California Chapters – Los Angeles, Orange County, Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley, Ventura County and Fullerton.
GOPIO was founded at the First Global Convention of People of Indian Origin in New York in 1989. The objectives include; to promote legitimate interests of the People of Indian Origin (PIOs)-Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) as a resident in countries outside India and to promote the common cultural heritage of PIOs-NRIs. The activities include to conduct campaigns in media and with other organizations to focus attention on specific problems affecting PIOs-NRIs and to act as an advocacy group in support of causes and concerns of PIOs-NRIs.
Butani is the Chairman of Federation of Indian-American Communities of SoCal & Lions Club of Little India. He is also co-chair of Indian American Republicans of California.
