Development will have to wait for new constitution

KATHMANDU: Minister for Finance, Barshaman Pun, said the government would focus economic development after the conclusion of peace process and constitution writing.

During a meeting with a Board Member of the World Bank, H Manao, at the Finance Ministry on Thursday, Minister Pun expressed confidence that the national economy would move ahead positively after the promulgation of new constitution in the country.

Moreover, he said the government would prioritize development of energy, tourism, agriculture, and infrastructures following the promulgation of constitution.

On the occasion, Mr Manao said there was huge possibility of tourism in Nepal and once there is peace and stable government, it would attract investors.

According to Chief of the Foreign Aid Division under the Finance Ministry, Lal Shankar Ghimire, the World Bank member Manao acquired suggestions from the Finance Minister about the role to play for extending World Bank support in the country. RSS
