Deuba faction says party must not support CA extension, at any cost
KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Nepali Congress leaders close to senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has stressed on bringing constitution by May 27.
The meeting held at the Office of a Committee on Determination of Form of Governance in Singha Durbar, on Thursday, underscored the need of making public at least the first draft of new constitution within the slated timeframe.
The leaders were univocal on not extending the term of the Constituent Assembly, said leader Ramesh Lekhak.
Moreover, leader Lekhak said, “We are united for making public the draft of the new constitution within May 27. The extension of the CA term was not acceptable to us at any cost.”
The senior leaders of the party have been asked to be firm on the stand of not extending the CA term in the meeting of the three major political parties, he added.
Meanwhile, leader Jeep Chhiring Sherpa said they stressed the state restructuring on the basis of ethnic identity. RSS
