KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai to be responsible towards forging the national consensus.

Opening the 10th national convention of the Tribhuvan University Employees’ Association in Kirtipur today, leader Deuba said the PM should be more responsible towards forging national consensus since the nation was passing through hard times.

The dissolution of the Constituent Assembly without giving the nation new constitution has made the people sad, he said, and added achievements of the past movements could be protected and transition could be taken to conclusion if national consensus was forged.

The Congress leader further stated that rift among the ethnic groups would provoke conflict in the country and stressed the need of keeping communal harmony and fraternity intact.

Also speaking on the occasion, TU Vice Chancellor Hira Bahadur Maharjan said the role of TU in the development of the education sector in Nepal was significant and stressed that support and cooperation from all sides was necessary to end all the problems facing the University.

TU Employees Union President Bhoj Kumar Basnet urged the TU management to address the problems faced by its employees. Some 200 representatives from the campuses under the University and 400 observers are taking part in the convention, it is learnt. RSS
