Demand for organic Nepali tea soars up
The district has witnessed growing inflow of tea traders from the European countries including Germany after tea producers and estates laid emphasis on organic orthodox production to have the Nepali tea established in western countries.
With the onset of production of organic tea in Gorkha Tea Estate in Sundarpani of Fikkal VDC, different tea traders have appeared to purchase the product, said locals.
Generally, tea traders approaching here visit around various tea estates in the district, test the flavor of tea and purchase the produce from the place they like.
Day-to-day new traders are observed to be visiting the area especially after the start-up of tea production in Sundarpani, said manager Udaya Chapagain.
Germany tea entrepreneur, Thomas, said quality tea is produced in collaboration between farmers and factories.
It is said that tea entrepreneurs from European countries including Germany have been purchasing readymade tea products from tea estates and factories for the past three years.
The Gorkha Tea Estate is said to have exported 15,000 kgs of readymade tea to European countries including Germany last year. This year the export may rise to 20,000 kgs, Chapagain added. RSS
