Demand for inclusion of Lumpiyadhura in Nepal’s political map
KATHMANDU: A writ petition has been filed at Supreme Court, demanding the incorporation of Limpiydhura in Nepal’s political map. University teacher at Patan Multiple Campus, Phanindra Nepal, and advocate Sujit KC jointly filed the writ petition by making the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation as the defendant.
The petitioners sought the order from SC to ask the Ministry to bring new political map that includes the land up to Limpiyadhura in the west-north of the country. Petitioner Nepal shared with the National News Agency (RSS), “Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura belong to Nepali territory as per the Sugauli Treaty signed between Nepal and then East India Company. So, placing these areas in India’s map is sheer violation of the Treaty.”
In the writ, they reminded that Nepal’s area is 147,181 square kilometer. They also invoked Nepal’s constitution which mentions Nepal as independent, sovereign, indivisible, geographically integrated country.
