Defected Janajati leaders form new party
The leaders from the indigenous community, who earlier defected the mainstream mother party, have announced the formation of the Sanghiya Samajbadi Party(Federal Socialist Party) on Thursday under the chairmanship of Ashok Rai.
Rai was the former Vice-chairman of the CPN (UML).
A 98-member central ad hoc committee has been formed naming Bijaya Subba, Durga Mani Dewan, Prem Krishna Pathak, Bir Bahadur Lama, Rakam Chemjong, Hem Raj Rai, Mohammad Rijwan Ansari and Gopal Thakur as Vice-Chairpersons of the newest political party.
Similarly, Rajendra Shrestha is the general secretary of the party.
Ajambar Rai Kangmang, Radhi Timilsina, Norsang Sherpa and Mina Gurung have been named as assistant general secretaries of the party while Hori Lal Chaudhary, Karna Bahadur Budha Magar, Ram Singh Yadav and D B Nepali are secretaries of the party, mostly dominated by leaders from ethnic communities.
Addressing the programme organized to announce the formation of the party, party chairman Ashok Rai claimed that the party was formed aiming to liberate the suppressed castes, class, sex, peasants and labourers.
The main slogan of the party is ‘Socialism for Class Liberation, Federalism for Caste Liberation.”
