Danuwars enforce banda in Kavre, Sindhupalchok

BANEPA: The banda or general strike enforced by the Danuwar community has partial impact on life in Kavre and Sindhupalchok districts today.

The Danuwar people have enforced market closure from Tinpiple to Panchkhal in Kavre district, calling for carving out ethnic provinces while federalizing the country.

Similarly, public transport service is closed in Sindhupalchok district due to the banda. Vehicles operating on long and short routes on the Araniko Highway have stayed off the roads, the District Police Office, Sindhupalchok, stated. However, the local market is open.

As per statistics, about 15 percent of the population in Panchkhal is Danuwar. Police have been deployed to open the market.

Meanwhile, life remains disrupted in Biratnagar for the sixth consecutive day today due to the indefinite Tarai shutdown enforced by the Broader Madhesi Front. The Front has been imposing the shutdown calling for an autonomous one Madhes province.

The market, factories and public transport services remain closed due to the banda. RSS
