‘Criminal activities increased with increasing use of social sites’
KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has said that number of criminal incidents in the country has increased along with the increasing use of social sites.
The Nepal Police said this at an interaction organised by Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj, here on Wednesday.
On the occasion, Chief of Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, Senior Superintendent of Police, Uttamraj Subedi said that incidents of criminal activities have increased along with rising social evils and aberrations and use of the social media. He said, “The Nepal Police successfully investigated 97.5 per cent crimes last year.” SSP Subedi said that Community-Police Partnership Programme would help to reduce criminal activities as different incidents like domestic violence, murder, suicide and gender-based violence have increased in the society due to social evils and aberrations.
Similarly, Police Inspector at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj, Anita Mahat said that police have been launching awareness training from school level to build a prosperous society.
Mahat said that the Nepal Police has been carrying out investigation on incidents related to women and children seriously.
