Court orders release of Nirmala’s murder accused police official Bista on bail

BHIMDUTTANAGAR: The District Court here has ordered for the release of sacked Superintendent of Police Dilli Raj Bista held in connection with the rape and subsequent murder of Nirmala Panta on bail.
A single bench of District Judge Dr Rajendra Kumar Acharya asked Bista to deposit a bail amount of Rs 1.05 million, said registrar Hari Krishna Awasthi. “The court ordered his imprisonment if he failed to post the bail amount,” he said.
Senior advocate Raman Kumar Shrestha and advocates Krishna Dev Joshi and Ananda Prasad Joshi pleaded the case in Bista’s support. Deputy Superintendent of Police Angur GC who was named as a suspect in the same case lodged by Nirmala’s mother Durga Devi has yet to report to the court.
Earlier, other six including Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Bahadur Seti accused in the murder were released on bail.
Nirmala was found murdered in a sugarcane field on July 27, 2018.
