Constitution Day observed in New York
NEW YORK: The Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations and the Consulate General of Nepal jointly organized a reception to observe the Constitution Day in New York, the USA on September 17.
According to a press statement released by the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, on the occasion Ambassador of the Nepal to the United Nations Amrit Bahadur Rai said, “Nepal is one of the oldest nations and has remained a peace-loving country. Nepal is also a responsible member in the comity of nations.”
Constitution Day falls on Nepali month of Asoj 3 (September 20) of the national calendar as the Constitution Day inside the country in commemoration of the promulgation of the new constitution, whereas the Day will be marked as the National Day on the same day abroad.
Ambassador Rai further said that after the institutionalization of political transformation, Nepal had geared for accelerated yet sustainable economic development to realize the national aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali’.
Present in the celebration were Ambassadors and Consuls General as well as representatives of diplomatic and consular corps in New York, UN officials and business community and Nepali community representatives.
