Consensus not possible unless PM resigns: Khanal

CPN UML Chairman Jhalnath KhanalKATHMANDU: CPN UML Chairman Jhalnath Khanal has ruled out possibility of resolving ongoing political impasse unless Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai stepped down.

He said that PM Bhattarai should step down first so as to create conducive environment for polarised political parties to sit for talks.

Speaking at a program in the capital on Saturday, Khanal urged the government to create conducive environment among political parties to reach consensus on outstanding issues.

He further claimed that only CPN UML’s leadership can institutionalise the gains of great Janandolan.

Khanal accused the UCPN Maoist and Madhesh based parties of pushing the nation into constitutional crisis.
