Congress raps gov’s budget and poll announcement
Concluding the government’s decision to bring the budget ordinance and announcing the election unilaterally as a ‘ploy to cling in power’, the main opposition party Nepali Congress has decided to intensify the struggle to dislodge the government.
The central working committee (CWC) meeting of the party held in party office Sanepa on Wednesday has said that the unveiling of budget without building political consensus in the absence of people’s representatives was contemptible.
The budget has come merely to serve the vested interest of the government rather than resolving the problems facing the people, said the Congress.
The party has decided to intensify the struggle programme to hold the Constituent Assembly (CA) in a free and fair manner and form a national consensus government to bail the country out of crisis, said NC central member Arjun Narsingh KC.
The meeting also decided to present a strong plan of action of struggle in the next meeting after consulting with other political parties.
‘Budget presentation is not only against the democratic norms and values but also against the spirit of consensus. Announcement of poll date is a ploy to stay longer in the government.’
“Ending of autocratic rule that is inviting crisis to democracy one after another was the need of the hour,” the NC further said the government’s unscrupulous acts have put national interest and social unity at stake.
