CJ Parajuli submits resignation
KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli has submitted resignation from the post to President Bidya Devi Bhandari today.
CJ Parajuli, facing tremendous dispute over his date of birth certificates, reached Shitalniwas to tender the resignation. He was informed through a letter that he was relieved from the post by Secretary of Judicial Council yesterday.
Joint Spokesperson at President’s Office, Keshav Kumar Ghimire, informed that it was not necessary to authenticate the resignation tendered by the retired CJ. So, the post of Chief Justice is automatically vacant now, he added.
Meanwhile, Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshi has begun assigning tasks to the SC Judges. Joshi is attending the swearing-in ceremony of the Chairman of National Assembly in the capacity of the Acting CJ today itself.
