‘Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Visit Up Lifts Nepal’s Global Reputation’

KATHMANDU: Political leaders said on Tuesday that the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal had enhanced the recognition and reputation of the country at international level.
Speaking at a talk programme organised by Madan Bhandari Adhyayan Kendra in the capital today, they said that the impact of the Xi’s visit would be multidimensional and of long-term importance for Nepal.
Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the visit of President Xi had increased the height of Nepal at international level.
He said that the visit had taken the cordial bilateral relation between Nepal and China to a state of strategic relation.
The commitment of the Chinese president to help Nepal become a land-linked was strategically important for boosting Nepal’s image internationally, he said. “Now, Nepal has become a country linked by two countries rather than the one-country linked earlier,” he said.
Nepal, who is also a senior leader of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), said that Xi’s visit had created a positive ground for the tri-partite cooperation between Nepal, India and China.
He said that Nepal should maintain a balanced relation between India and China and should be able to take benefits from the development of two countries through effective cooperation.
Leader Nepal stressed on national consensus among all political parties on the foreign policy and relation with several other countries.
President Xi has given a very important message to NCP and other political parties towards winning the people’s heart.
President Xi’s message has improved the behaviour of the party leaders and discouraged corruption, which are important not only to the NCP but for all parties of Nepal.
He said that the Xi’s message about the behavior of communist party and its carders were also very important for the purification and improvement of communist parties of Nepal.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Upendra Yadav said that President Xi’s visit remained very successful and historical for extending the connectivity, investment and tourism relation with China.
He said that the internal situation of the country should be favourable to get benefits from the foreign cooperation.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai said that visit of President Xi had helped publicise Nepal not only in China but also across the globe.
Bhattarai who is also the president of Madan Bhandari Aadhyayan Kendra said that the visit of the Chinese President had contributed massively for the promotion of Nepal’s tourism.
There should be political stability, and socio-economic transformation of the country to get benefits from foreign cooperation.
Ghanashyam Bhusal, standing committee member of NCP, said that Nepal had regained its former status of land-linked after 250 years.
Bhusal said that Nepal was land-linked during the Malla-era and it later became land-locked after the treaty with British India government. He said that the opening of connectivity with China had reinstated its land-linked image.
He stressed on a conscious deal with India and China to get benefits from their rapid economic growth.
