Chand bows down to public criticism, returns governemnt’s vehicle facility

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand has returned state facility accorded to him as the former PM on Thursday.

Chand was allocated a jeep as part of the state benefits allocated to the ex-VIPs.

He said that he has decided to return the state facilities after public protests for it and also made it clear that he has not been using any other facilities of the state.

According the recently endorsed ordinance, former dignitaries including former President, Prime Minister, some Ministers, supreme court judges, and chiefs of other constitutional bodies were allocated special facilities that include vehicle, residences, personal secretariat, fuel.

Prior to Chanda, former PM Prachanda, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalnath Khanal, Congress leader Ram Chandra Paudel, Chairman of former CA Subash Nembang, some supreme court justices among others have returned their vehicle and denied to receive any state facilities brought by the government through ordinance and that have been criticized by the general public.
