Career Diplomat Amrit Bahadur Rai appointed Nepal’s envoy to UN

KATHMANDU: Nepal Government has appointed Career Diplomat Amrit Bahadur Rai as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, New York, USA.

A Cabinet meet on Monday decided to appoint Rai to the post of Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, New York, USA.

The post has been lying vacant after Durga P. Bhattarai left New York after completing his tenure in July 2018.

A Career Diplomat, Amrit Bahadur Rai, had earlier served as Nepali Ambassador to south Africa since 2014.

Earlier in November, the government had recalled Rai from South Africa.

A Career Diplomat, Amrit Bahadur Rai, had earlier served as First Secretary to Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, New York, USA, since 2010.
