CA reinstatement most popular means to resolve political crisis: VP Jha
Speaking to a team of journalists headed by Reporters Club Nepal’s President Rishi Dhamala at his office on Friday, VP Jha suggested that the lead political parties should reinstate the CA for amending the interim constitution through it.
” For holding CA elections or for reinstating the CA, the interim constitution should be amended. And to amend the constitution CA must be reinstated,” Jha said claiming that “only political parties can resolve present political status quo.”
Referring to the recent comments from some political quarters that claimed that the President could amend the Interim Constitution by using his special constitution rights, VP Jha said that such an action from the President won’t be acceptable to all political parties and would therefore further tangle the issue.
” The President cannot resolve constitutional hurdled through his special rights. It can be only amended through CA,” Jha said.
He even suggested journalist for not enticing the President to take actions arguing that such an action was hindering the process to resolve political crisis by fuelling confrontation between political parties and the President.
On the occasion, Dhamala presented a memorandum to the Vice President calling for the initiation of decisive talks for ending political stalemate.
