British singer sings atop highest altitude for Nepalese orphange

KATHMANDU:  Ten artists from different countries, including Britain, set world record by organizing a 40-minute long concert atop the 6,654 meter-high Mera Peak in the Mount Everest region last week.

The group of artists has been organizing various concerts in Nepal since 2002 to support for the food, shelter, and education to the street children, said Oz Weldon, team leader of the concert at a news conference in the Capital on Thursday.

Weldon said the team had organised the concert at the peak on May 23 making 13-day long journey from Kathmandu.

He said the band includes the artists from Australia, France, Egypt, Poland and other countries also organized a concert at Kalapatthar (5,000 meters) in 2005.

The team has already provided support to construct an orphanage for 40 children with the money it collected so far, it was informed to media persons during the news conference. RSS
