British Minister of State Duncan calls on Dahal

KATHMANDU: British Minister of State for International Development, Alan Duncan, called on Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter’s residence at Lazimpat today.

During the meeting, they discussed on  various issues including the country’s contemporary political issues, political developments after the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA), fresh CA elections announced by the government for November 22 this year, British assistance to Nepal, said Dahal’s aide, Shiva Khakurel.

Pointing out the need of consensus and cooperation among the political parties after the dissolution of the CA, British Minister of State Duncan urged Dahal to take initiatives for forging consensus as early as possible.

During the meeting, he expressed concerns over the split of the UCPN-Maoist and the activities of the newly formed party.

In response, Dahal said that he has started discussions with political parties for consensus and expressed his confidence that they would reach to a consensus soon, said Khakurel quoting Dahal.

On the occasion, they also discussed on the issues relating to strengthening the mutual relations and increasing the British assistance to Nepal.

Minister of State Duncan arrived here on Tuesday on a three-day official visit to Nepal. RSS
