Bhagwan Koirala resigns from Executive Director of TU Teaching Hospital
A leading Private Television Channel Avenues TV informed that the heart specialist has resigned from his post on Friday but the information published only on Sunday. The exact reason behind his resignation is yet to come. The Television Channel quoted Dr. Koirala as saying that there are many reasons for his resignation, which he will make public shortly.
The executive committee of the Tribhuvan University (TU) had appointed Professor Dr Bhagwan Koirala as the director of the TUTH some 3 months back. Dr. Koirala, who made very good reputation while being the Chief of Gangalal Heart Centre has made remarkable changes in the Teaching Hospital once he assumed the top post.
Dr. Koirala had served for more than eight years in Sahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, Bansbari as the director before he was appointed to TUTH.
Dr. Koirala made it mandatory for all doctors to complete their duty in the hospital. Earlier senior doctors of Teaching Hospital used to come there just to sign their attendance. Teaching Hospital, where majority of economically weak people visit for treatment, has seem remarkable change in a short period of time but some doctors and staffer, who used to work there to receive incentives from the government, were not happy from the efforts of Dr. Koirala to reform at the hospital. Honest officials of the Teaching Hospital has to resign following political intervention in the major hospital of the Country. Some months back Dr. Govinda K.C. organized fast-onto-death demanding an end of political intervention in the hospital and the government agreed for it.
