Bangla women to scale Mt. Everest as Birthday gift to nation

Kathmandu, March 26: A Bangladeshi woman is climbing the world’s highest mountain, Mt. Everest, coinciding with the 40th Independence Day of her country.

Rights activist and writer Basfia Nazareen announced at a news conference here on Sunday that she would set out towards Lukla on Monday in this connection.

She said she wants to become the first Bangladeshi woman to set foot on the world’s highest peak.

Nazareen plans to climb the seven highest mountains in five continents and has already ascended the mountains in Africa and South America. Her expedition team comprises 16 members and it is supported by the City Bank and various organizations of Bangladesh. RSS
