Apex court stays AG’s directive to stop investigation into journo murder

KATHMANDU:
The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order to not halt the investigation of the murder case of Dailekh-based journalist Dekendra Thapa. The apex court has issued a stay order to the government not to implement Attorney General Mukti Pradhan’s written directive to the district attorney in Dailekh to halt the recordings of the accused of the murder of journalist Dekendra Thapa.
Responding to the writ petition filed by the Advocate Govinda bandi today, the apex court has also directed the offices of district police and district prosecutor to report to the SC if any unlawful pressure was put into them during the investigation processes.
Similarly, a single bench of Justice Kalyan Shrestha has also directed the defendants to present before the court with a written reply within 15 days.
