Apex court reiterates denial to CA term extension

KATHMANDU:  The apex court has upholded its earlier decision against providing extension to the Consituent Assemby  further than the present one.
The court issued such orders while responding to two writ petitions filed by Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, and Speaker Subas Chandra Nembang to review its Novemenber 25 decision that capped the CA exenstion.
A single bench of Justice Kamal Narayan Das declined to reiview the verdict and upholded its earlier rejection of a similar petition on December 27.
The verdict has said that the CA’s term wont go further than May 27 and had provided three alternates to it in case if the CA fails to fulfill its objective of promulgating the constitution.
The three options were to go for fresh CA elections, referendum, or any suitable constitutional way out.
