5 forest officials suspended

DANG: District Forest Office, Dang has suspended its five employees for action on the charge of involved in illegally felling saal trees worth tens of thousands rupees.

The forest office came up with the move to take action against the alleged employees who involved in cutting down trees in Nawadurga Community Forest in collaboration with forest users.

Among the suspended are foresters at Chiraghat range post Nim Bahadur Basnet and Sarjan Oli, forest guards Pancharam Oli and Atmaram Neupane and assistant forest officer at range post Ram Ashique Yadav, according to the District Forest Office sources.

Recommendation has been sent to the Department of Forest to take action against assistance forest officer Yadav and the process to take action against the four has been initiated, said Chief of District Forest Office, Arun Poudel.

Recommendation for action was made after a team headed by General Director of the Department Bajra Kishor Yadav monitored the community forest on last Monday following media published news about illegal felling of 115 trees in the community forest.

Around 1,029 cube feet saal timbers have been cut down in the community forest that worth more than Rs. 2.5 million, said District Forest Office, Dang.

It is said that Chairperson including other office-bearers of the community forest users committee are still absconding. RSS
