4 dead, dozens injured in Janakpur bomb blast

KATHMANDU: At least four people have been declared dead and a dozen other injured in a bomb blast that rocked Ramananda Chowk, Janakpurdham city on Monday morning.

The bomb went off at about 10 this morning during an agitation programme launched demanding establishment of Mithila state.

The deceased have been identified as Bimal Sharan, Ranju Jha, Jhagaru Mandal and Krishna Upadhayay, according to police.

All the injured are undergoing treatment at Janakpur Zonal Hospital and ten of them have been brought to Kathmandu for further treatment.

Police has claimed that the bomb went nearby a peaceful protest program of Mithila State Struggle Committee. The Committee was staging protest for a separate Mithila state.

Meanwhile Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha has taken responsibility of the bombing by calling on local media personals.
