Bigwigs fail to corner any issue, efforts to continue
KATHMANDU: Meeting of the lead political parties including Madhesh based parties called for garnering consensus on outstanding issues related to constitution drafting and peace process remained inconclusive on Tuesday.
The meeting held at the Peace Ministry was rendered inconclusive after Nepali Congress and CPN UML reiterated that they would not hold talks on constitution drafting process, unless the PLA combatants were handed over to Nepal Army.
Claiming that the peace process had furthered and neared conclusion , the Maoists had called on both parties to sit for talks on issues related to constitution writing.
Thought the meeting remained inconclusive, parties have agreed to sit again after the Army Integration Special Committee meeting slated for evening today.
Earlier PM Bhattarai and Maoist Prachanda is reported to have held discussion to finalize party’s stance on issues related to army integration and constitution writing.
Sources claimed that the meeting had also discussed on the possible ways to resolve contentions on rank harmonization, training period of the combatants and representation of the combatants in the selection committee and to conclude the army integration by April 12.
