‘Protests to continue until decision on fixing province capitals corrected’
DNAG: CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara has said that the protests would be continued unless the government decision to fix province temporary capitals was corrected.
Mahara is also the House of Representatives member from Dang constituency-2.
Addressing an extensive assembly organised at Lamahi of Dang today, he said the form of the protest movement however needs to be changed. The protest assembly was organised by the People’s Struggle Committee demanding Dang be declared the capital of Province No 5.
“The movement will continue until the decision is corrected but its form needs to be changed. Pressure should be constantly exerted by organising protest rallies and corner assemblies, and submitting memorandum without organising the banda or general strike,” he said.
The election to the National Assembly has been fixed in Dang itself and therefore the form of the protest movement should be changed in view of this. The members of the No 5 Province Assembly should be welcomed, he said.
Mahara who had boarded a flight to Nepalgunj en route to Dang from Kathmandu had to return back to Kathmandu as his plane could not land in Nepalgunj die to dense fog. He took a helicopter to directly come here from Kathmandu.
Life in Dang has been affected due to a shutdown in effect here since the last five days.
