One drowns in canal, three missing in separate flooding incidents
KATHMANDU: A 10-year-old boy drowned in a canal in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-4 this evening. According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, Ronish Khadka died after falling off the canal while playing near the Narayani Lift Irrigation.
Meanwhile, 29-year-old Kamal Phuyal of Shivasatachhi Municipality-7 in Jhapa district has gone missing after the Kankai River swept him.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hari Sharma said that Phuyal was swept away by the river while crossing the river from Dokuha area.
Similarly, three persons swept away by the flood at Likhu Municipality-6 in Ramechhap on Saturday night are still missing.
Of the five, dead bodies of two were recovered, the police said. DSP Kumod Dhungel said that those missing were not found despite a search for them is continued. Those missing are Suman Kumari Khatri, 62, Manita Tamang, 14, and Ashok Tamang, 52, of Likhu Municipality.
Meanwhile, the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal has provided relief amount to the flood victims in Saptari district.
The district committee of the party provided five kilogram of rice per family, a tent, a bucket and other materials to 106 affected families of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-2.
The district committee chairperson of the party, Dinesh Kumar Yadav, said that the relief materials would be distributed to the flood victims of Tilathi, Mainkaderi, Bhediya and other areas on Monday as well. RSS
