NEPSE records double digit decline
KATHMANDU: The benchmark capital market index- Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) – recorded a double digits decline of 21.62 points on Wednesday to close at 1,322.98 points.
The NEPSE index has been showing continuously declining trend for the last one week.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also declined by 4.76 points on Wednesday
The stock exchange traded 1,018,602 unit shares of 137 companies worth Rs. 345,717,940 in 4,668 transactions.
Sub-indices of all trading group recorded declining trend in today’s transaction.
Insurance group’s sub-indices recorded highest point decline of 179.09 points to close at 5,605.05 points followed by hotels and hydropower with 44.39 points and 20.72 points respectively.
Sub-indices of development bank, banking, others’ group and finance also declined by 20.64 points, 18.59 points, 9.26 points and 7.77 points respectively.
Shareholders of Surya Life Insurance Company, Laxmi Lagubitta Company, Life Insurance Company Nepal, Himalayan General Insurance Company and Tinahu Bikas Bank became top five losers on Wednesday.
Similarly, shareholders of Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank, Mount Makalu Development Bank, Ngadi Group Power Limited, Nirdhan Utthan Bank and Progressive Finance Company became top gainers in today’s transaction.
