Nepal Police clinches Aaha-Rara Gold Cup
POKHARA: Nepal Police Club has bagged the title of 16th Aha-Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament held in Pokhara Stadium.
In the final match Saturday, Nepal Police defeated the Three Star Club by 1-0 to win the tournament.
Ram Baji of Nepal Police, utilising a pass from Neer Kumar Rai, scored a goal in the second minute of first half of injury time (20 minutes). Injury time was granted for the match as no goal was made by both teams in the determined time.
The winner has gone home with cash Rs 701,000 while the first runner-up bagged Rs 305,100.
Nepal Police’s Rabi Paswan got a scooter becoming the ‘best player’ of the tournament while highest goals scorers Suman Lama from the same team and Three Star’s Bishwas Shrestha were Rs 12,500 each.
Among ticket holders of the match, Ujjawal Pokhrel of Gachowk had become the winner of a lottery draws and got a scooter and Uttam Bahadur Karki of Pokhra Lekhnath Metropolis-10 won an LG Television of worth Rs 25,000.
National Sports Council member secretary Keshab Kumar Bista, Regional Sports Development Committee chair Khagraj Poudel, District Sports Development Committee chair Yam Bahadur Gurung, and Federation of Nepali Journalists, Kaski chair Dipendra Shrestha were there to distribute awards to the winners. The tournament was organised by the Pokhara-based Sahara Club.
