N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU: President of the Nepali Congress (NC), Sushil Koirala, has said that discussions could be held on different alternatives for political outlet only after the exit of Baburam Bhattarai-led government.

After a meeting held with officer-bearers and central members of the party at his own residence at Maharajgunj this morning prior to leaving for a visit to the Eastern Region, Koirala said that his party was ready to hold discussions on any alternative, and he stressed the exit of the UCPN-Maoist-Madhesi Front alliance government.

He said the NC has also determined that the Front of Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA) formed among various parties including the

UCPN-Maoist and Madhesi Front was making efforts to prolong the tenure of the government, misusing power and is pushing the country into mishap.

Stating that exit of the government was a compulsion to revive national consensus, Koirala said that there was no alternative to launching protests for the political parties including the NC if the government itself does not exit from power.

He added that national consensus was the NC’s priority for giving an outlet to the political crisis.

During the meeting, discussion was also held on the resignations by department chiefs and zonal coordinators in favour of senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba over the formation of departments, Party Spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu, said.

A week-long eastern regional visit of the Party President, upcoming meeting of central members, among others, were discussed in the meeting, Badu added. RSS
