N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has rejected two election-related ordinances recommended by the Council of Ministers, reasoning that it was ‘irrelevant’ to issue them immediately.

The two ordinances are the Ordinance to Amend Nepal Acts, 2069 and the Constituent Assembly Election Ordinance, 2069.

“The President did not see any relevancy in issuing these ordinances in the changed context of the Election Commission informing that it would not be possible to hold the election to a new Constituent Assembly on November 22 as announced by the government, citing that constitutional and legal provisions required for the legitimacy and credibility of the election and even the minimum consensus among the political parties necessary for their participation has not come by,” stated a press communiqué issued by the Office of the President today.
